Big legal movements in eSports happening in Germany at the moment, with political parties in Schleswig-Holstein working on an agreement that “aims to examine if and how esports events can be supported and established”.
While Germany is lagging behind other countries in the region in both recognition and involvement, the infrastructure and interest definitely exists to thrive.
Germany is a very key hub for the video game and esport industry, hosting massive events such as Gamescom and various ESL events, alone. It’s also the home of renowned esport teams, who are partnered with Dingit.tv such as PentaSports and BIG.
“We recognize the growing importance of the esports landscape in Germany,” said a spokesperson. “We will examine if and how the conditions for esports can be improved.”
