It’s been 15 years since BioWare created Neverwinter Nights and cemented themselves as forerunners in the RPG genre of video games. Now those that worked on the game are treating fans of the series with a special edition of the game.
After it’s widely positive acclaim, the team went on to create smash hits with Knights of the Old Republic I, Dragon Age, Mass Effect and more. The original release of Neverwinter Nights featured, a single player game campaign and a multiplayer mode. Three expansion packs were released for the game, those being: Shadows of Undrentide, Hordes of the Underdark and Kingmaker. There have also been previous special editions of the game, released by Atari, which include: Gold, Platinum and Diamond versions, each with a host of extras.
A spokesperson for Beamdog, a studio comprised of former Bioware employees said:
“We’ve added an improved display that looks great on modern 4K monitors, UI elements now adjust in size based on chosen resolution, and post-processing effects make for crisper, cleaner visuals. Save games, modules, and mods from the original Neverwinter Nights work in the Enhanced Edition.“
Beamdog have done this before with other fan favorites like Baldur’s Gate and Planescape Torment. They will launch a pre-order set up today allowing access to an early version of the game.
